“Góry Sokole” is the latest, sixth edition of Michał Kajca’s iconic climbing guide to the most popular climbing area in the Sudetes—the Sokoliki. Although previous editions were already considered exemplary, in this latest version of the topo, the author, Michał Kajca, has introduced an exceptionally large number of improvements and changes. The topo for many rock faces has been improved. This is particularly true of the Krzyżna Góra area, which—thanks to the emergence of many new easy routes (e.g., on Turnia Panfila or Zamkowe Skały)—is gaining in popularity. A very important element of the Sokoliki guidebook are the short route descriptions: in this edition, hundreds of them have been supplemented and made more detailed.
The “Practical Information” section has also been updated, along with many maps and wall diagrams. Basic information in English has also been added. As in previous editions, the author has made every effort to illustrate the guidebook with as many new climbing photographs as possible. In addition, the chapter “Gems of the Sokolik Mountains” has returned—in an improved form—serving as a sort of photographic guide to the region’s greatest classics. Contrary to appearances, new routes and variants are still being established in the seemingly well-explored Sokoliki Mountains. The new guidebook features 30 new climbing routes and variants!
Despite all these improvements, the guide has been slimmed down slightly by moving the memoir section to the website—these highly valuable texts are easily accessible by entering the link or scanning the QR code.
In this guide, you’ll find detailed descriptions of the climbing routes on Sokolik and Krzyżna Góra, which together make up Poland’s most popular climbing area, commonly known as “the Falcons.” In addition to the climbing section, you’ll find a practical guide to accommodations at the Szwajcarka, Tabor, Karioka, and 9Up hostels. The guide also describes access routes to the crags, information about parking lots, and eateries such as Mamma Rosa. The new edition of the Sokol Mountains guide is a must-have for every climber visiting the Sokol Mountains!
