Climbing guide to the areas of the Western Sudetes (Poland) by Michal Kajca

Description

Western Sudetes - Rocks of the vicinity of Jelenia Góra, Wojcieszów, Złotoryja and Lviv Śląski

We can safely write that there has not been a new climbing guide for a long time, which would present so many never-before-described gems. Such is the topo "SUDETY ZACHODNIE. Rocks around Jelenia Góra, Wojcieszow, Zlotoryja and Lviv Slaskie" by Michal Kajca.

The author spent a full 10 years collecting information, photo material, exploration, consultation and verification. The result is a 368-page guidebook describing 33 climbing areas with 1057 (including 595 fully insured) climbing routes and variants.

In addition, the variety of formations and the nature of climbing will make your head spin. Suffice it to write that the topo describes routes established in as many as 8 different types of rock: sandstone, crystalline limestone, basalt, rhyolite, metatrachite, granite, granitogneiss and diabase. We have quite a few easy lines, including those suitable for children (marked with a pink icon), but there is also a sizable set of difficult climbs and even a few extremes. A really impressive list of destinations will be found here for trad climbing enthusiasts. 26 interesting traverses are also described.

In addition to a well-detailed topographical section (clear drawing of lines into photos, maps, descriptions of access and GPS coordinates) and nearly 150 climbing photos, the author always emphasizes the history of climbing in the areas he describes. This time is no different - in addition to a general historical outline, the book includes seven memoir texts written by climbers who have made their mark in the history of exploration of the local rocks.

In a word: with this topo in hand you can find your own climbing paradise for 2024!
