The Singing Tree Rope Wrench (STRW) jig is a living legend and one of the most important elements of single rope technique. It is set with a double pusher.
Developed by Kevin Bingham of Singing Tree, the device has been produced by ISC for a good few years. During this time it has managed to win over a large group of users who cannot imagine working without it.
The STRW put on the rope creates an inflection on the rope above the clamping knot tied by the arborist. In combination with the pusher, it creates a sort of "bypass" mounted on a single rope. Such a procedure allows us to move freely while maintaining a constant level of tension on the knot, which is impossible to achieve with two strands. The user thus gains much more control over the system and a reduction in unwanted slack in the line. Working in such an arrangement also allows for easier maneuvering between branches than during a two-strand ascent. As a result, the Rope Wrench offers much greater mobility and significantly increases convenience.
Important to note is the fact that all Wrenches sold in Europe must be factory-equipped with an ISC pusher. Only such a combined set meets the requirements of CE EN 12278. Tests conducted on such a set show its breaking strength at 24 kN, so it also meets ANSI requirements. ISC warns that non-factory pushrods may not meet the above requirements.
The Rope Wrenche currently on sale is the second generation of this model - lighter and gentler on the rope it works with. The device weighs only 128 grams (plus the weight of the pusher) and works with ropes up to 13 mm in diameter. Convenient installation of the rope is made possible by a removable locking pin. The movable roller based on a sliding bearing allows smoother operation and proves to be gentler on the rope on which the Wrench is mounted.
Made from a single piece of aluminum, the facings have been additionally anodized, so they not only look great, but have also been protected from the elements.
The set is equipped with a double pusher with a length of 31 cm. It is characterized by a forked tip, which allows a more stable and compact connection between the Wrench and the block. The design of the pusher itself is very rigid, allowing for efficient and stress-free operation. The pusher is further protected by a plastic cover.
Each unit has an individual serial number.
The kit, like all ISC products, was designed and manufactured in Wales.
It is CE EN 12278 approved (only in the kit with the pusher; note that the SRTW is not a basic SOI, the base of the support is the knot).
