Climbing shoes Tenaya Gontar

GONTAR is the first shoe in the TENAYA portfolio designed specifically for training purposes and climbing on artificial walls. Preparing this model, Spanish designers had to guarantee much higher durability than with standard profucts, without losing typical TENAYA features such as comfort or climbing precision. The result is a shoe that will not only allow us to develop our climbing skills - regardless of the level from which we start - but will also withstand much longer use on an artificial wall than classic proposals. The model is also available in a rental version and on VIBRAM FLASH rubber.

Double ottoman on the top of the boot

The main change in the GONTAR is the tip covered with a double layer of rubber. This solution provides additional protection against damage in the most sensitive areas, regularly abraded by the gritty structure of the steps on climbing walls. Thanks to the anatomical design of the shoe, the additional layer of rubber does not limit the feel of the tip, so the GONTAR will perform equally well on large and small steps, holes or edges.

4mm proprietary rubber

Tenaya's proprietary 4 mm thick rubber will perform perfectly even on the longest training sessions. At the same time, it remains surprisingly resistant to wear and tear. The same rubber is also coated on the top of the shoe, making it easier to hook up the toes.

M4 technology

The Step Up models feature a special M4 construction, which increases the responsiveness of the shoe, thus enhancing the feel of the steps. The M4 also allows the shoe to be roomier and thus more comfortable for those with wider feet, without losing any climbing precision.

Sole made from a single piece of rubber

The GONTAR is built around a sole made from a single, uncut piece of rubber. The result is that it will work very well on the edges, remaining a surprisingly solid choice even for tricky washouts. This type of construction also significantly relieves stress on the metatarsal muscles.

Strong and fast Velcro and a well-breathable tongue

The two Velcro located at the top of the shoe allow you to precisely dispense the amount of foot resistance. They are also very durable, and thanks to the large Velcro surface, its fastening will be quick and effortless. In addition, GONTAR's tongue is made of highly breathable, soft material. It is also split along its length, so the shoes are easy to put on and take off.

Comfortable, more comfortable, Tenaya

Since its inception, the manufacturer has placed tremendous emphasis on maximum climbing comfort. Thanks to clever design and the use of soft materials, even the smallest possible size will not pinch our feet. Mainly for this reason, for climbers accustomed so far to the extremely tight shoes of the competition, the first trying on of the Tenaya is usually a shock, but followed by the question “how could I have catcalled myself so far”? The shoe's design also allows it to be used by people who have orthopedic problems with their feet, in the form of, for example, hallux valgus.

Microfiber upper

The upper part of the shoe is made of breathable and well-draining microfiber material. Its use will also ensure a very high level of wearing comfort and faster adaptation of the shoe to the climber's foot.

Step Up Series

Designed specifically to make it as easy as possible to operate the foot regardless of the terrain. Shoes of this line will be great for perfecting footwork and step feel. They are distinguished by Tenaya's classic comfort and very good friction work.

Handmade in Spain

As befits a high-end product, Tenaya sews all its shoes in Spain, specifically on the southern coast. The technicians who work in design and production are world-renowned specialists for whom the competition would give their bones. Thanks to their handmade production, they can catch possible shortcomings at any stage and correct them so that only a perfectly made shoe reaches the climber.
