8 channel charger Xtar - VC8S

Description

VC8 is a professional processor charger with three-stage TC/CC/CV charging process for Li-ion cells and 0ΔV and -ΔV for Ni-MH batteries. It charges 1-8 Li-ion 3.6 / 3.7V and Ni-MH cells of any capacity in sizes AAA/R03, AA/R6, 10440, 14500, 14650, 16340, 17500, 17670, 18350, 18500, 18650, 18700,18700, 20700, 21700 - also with protection, 22650, 25500, 26650. In the two extreme channels it is possible to charge batteries with low internal resistance with up to 3A current (only 1 cell).

The backlit LCD display of the Xtar VC8 charger shows real-time information about the operating status of the charger: the voltage of the batteries being charged, the charging current, the charge used to charge the cells, the internal resistance of the cells, indicates any errors and informs about the end of charging. The type of displayed information can be changed at any time by pressing the "disp" or mode button. Switching between charging modes is possible by holding down the mode / displ buttons longer. The charging current can be changed to higher / lower at any time - the charger will measure the internal resistance of the cell and negotiate the maximum (optimal) charging current. To measure the capacity of the battery, use the "Grad" option. After completing the process of assessing the quality of the cell, the capacity of the battery and is internal resistance can be read from the display. NOTE - grade and storage mode works only on channels 1-4.

The maximum charging current is 3A and is available only for the two extreme channels and only when the middle channels are not used - at most, the charger with such a current is able to charge 1 battery at a time. In the case of placing 2 batteries, the maximum charging current will be 2A. In the case of placing 4 cells, the maximum charging current will be 1A. In the case of placing more than 4pcs cells, the maximum charging current will be limited to 0.5A.

What is the TC/CC/CV charging method based on? It is a three-stage charging process for Li-ion cells to ensure that the cell remains in good condition by charging with the right current at each stage and completing the charging process at the right time.
The different stages of the TC/CC/CV process are:
- TC phase: cells discharged below 2.9V are 'awakened' with a lower current.
- CC phase: when the cell reaches 2.9V, it is charged with a constant current of 0.1A to 1A (depending on the power source used and the number of batteries to be charged).
- CV phase: when the cell is almost charged, the charger switches to charging with a decreasing current until the cell reaches 4.2V. When 4.2V is reached, the charging process is complete - the battery is fully charged.

Left in the charger charged batteries will undergo a natural process of self-discharge. Charging of Li-ion batteries will resume when the voltage on the battery drops below 3.9V. For Ni-MH batteries, charging is not resumed when the voltage drops due to self-discharge.

The Xtar VC8 charger has a reactivation function for deeply discharged cells and cells with 0V. Many chargers on the market are not able to charge such batteries. Here with help comes the Xtar VC8 charger, which in many cases allows you to 'salvage' such cells. Simply insert a deeply discharged battery into the VC8 charger, just as you would for normal charging - the charger will detect the discharged cell and attempt to reactivate it.

Caution: cells discharged below a certain level are irreversibly damaged and reactivation may not be possible. Avoid discharging Li-ion and Ni-MH batteries too deeply - this can significantly reduce their life and capacity or lead to their complete failure.

The Xtar VC8 charger comes with a USB cable. A power adapter is not included. To power the charger, you need a charger with QC3.0 standard (9V / 2A). It is possible to use a weaker power supply, the VC8 will adjust the charging current to the capabilities of the power source.
